Sports Premium

The Duke of Bedford School receives government money each year to spend on improving sport and PE.

This is part of a government initiative aimed at getting more children to take part in sport and healthy activities.

The money must be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of primary-aged pupils, to give them the opportunity to "develop a healthy lifestyle".

The DfE explains that schools have the freedom to choose how to use the funding based on 5 key indicators:

  • The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity.

  • The profile of PE and Sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement.

  • Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and Sport.

  • Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.

  • Increased participation in competitive sport.
