Attendance
We take attendance very seriously at The Duke of Bedford School as we know that missing out on lessons leaves pupils vulnerable to falling behind.
The government expects:
Schools and Local Authorities to:
- Promote good attendance and reduce absence, including persistent absence (those who are absent from school for 10% or more of their lessons);
- Ensure that every pupil has access to full-time education to which they are entitled.
Parents to:
- Perform their legal duty by ensuring that their children of compulsory school age who are registered at school attend regularly.
As such, leave of absence requests must be filled out by picking up a form in the school office.
New guidance from the local authority regarding fixed penalty notices can be found here.
Please note that the wording of the form has changed to comply with the Local Authority requirements, specifically regarding the issue of penalty notices. Our attendance Policy, also on this website, will give you further information.
